Poland is a country located in Central Europe, but in the geopolitical sense belonging to Eastern Europe. Generally, Poland has a moderate climate, but expanding to the east, the climate becomes continental. The climate in Poland is affected by the air masses from the west and cold, polar from the north. Like other European countries from the region, Poland’s summer months are sunny, spring and autumn are pleasant while winters can be very sharp with a lot of rainfall. The average temperature in Poland annually varies greatly from region to region, depending on the distance from the Baltic Sea. The average annual temperature ranges from 8 ℃ – 10 ℃, in summer the temperature is in the range of 18 ℃ – 30 ℃. The highest temperatures in the summer period are in the area of Lower Silesia, and they can range from 25 ℃ – 35 ℃ and the lowest are in the area of Podlaskie Voivodeship. The greatest amount of “sun” is mainly on the Baltic coast and during the winter in the mountains, where the temperature is constantly 20 ℃ – 25 ℃ during the summer. The temperature in winter is much lower and the average is from -6 ℃ to 3 ℃, depending on the region. In the west, the average temperature in January is 0 ℃ to -1 ℃, in the northeast from -4.5 to -5.5 ℃, and in the mountains in the south of the country is around -7 ℃. As for precipitation, the most rainfall (800 to 1000 mm) is in mountainous areas, fewer are in the lake area and the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains (600 to 800 mm), and at least are in the central lowland area (450 to 600 mm).
